Benik Afobe has been attracting the attention of many clubs

Benik Afobe has been attracting the attention of many clubs from the Championship and some in the Premier League due to his impressive talent.

The 22-year-old England national has scored 10 goals in 25 appearances for the Championship team, but many believe that he has the potential to score more in a much better team. Derby County have been seen as the favourites to sign the player. If such an offer comes for the 22-year-old, it will be hard to turn down by the player since it will provide him with a great opportunity to play in the Premier League.

Derby are on course to achieving promotion through the automatic places according to bookmaker William Hill whereas Wolves are struggling mid table in the Championship. Premier League outfit Crystal Palace have reportedly set aside £ 20 million to spend on the striker and Swansea City midfielder John Shelvey. Both these players will improve the team tremendously, but it appears that Wolves are determined to hold onto their star asset. Manager Kenny Jackett says that the club has certainly not considered selling the 22-year-old since he remains a vital part of the club’s future.Afobe is expected to score more goals when he is partnered with a striker, but he has been used as a lone forward by Wolves so far.

“We’ve had no calls about Benik. We haven’t had a call from Derby, we haven’t had an inquiry, we haven’t had a bid. Benik’s not had too many chances. But as a side it’s been needs must. He’s been committed, worked hard and shown a good attitude and generally dug in.It very much depends if you can get the two wide men close to him. It (the formation) sets out as a 4-3-3, with two in the midfield capable of joining quickly, there’s potentially four players that can join that one single forward,” said Jackett.
