WOLVES WERE VERY CLOSE TO SIGNING ‘EXTRAORDINARY’ ACE, COULD JOIN IN 2023

Wolves were ‘very close’ to luring Dario Osorio to the Premier League in the summer transfer window and may have scouted the winger during Chile’s 3-0 defeat to England’s U20 side in Spain this week, according to El Cancha. As you might expect, given that Osorio was the only member of that Chile side to have represented his country at senior level, the so-called ‘new Angel di Maria’ was their star performer during an otherwise disappointing display on Spanish soil; Liam Delap and Sam Edozie among the scorers in a comfortable Three Lions win.

One of the brightest young forwards in South America, the two-footed Osorio has been linked with the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid in recent months. It was Wolverhampton Wanderers, however, who came the closest to securing his signature before September’s transfer deadline. Osorio, El Cancha say, was on the verge of joining for a rumoured fee of around £4.5 million. Now, the 18-year-old could still be on his way to Molineux in the new year, of course. WOLVES COULD SIGN THEIR OWN YVES BISSOUMA FOR £15M, BID ALREADY MADE

Premier League outfit Wolves are still targeting Metz midfielder Boubacar Traore after submitting an initial £11 million offer for one of Ligue 1’s breakthrough stars, as reported by Le Republicain Lorrain. That Bruno Lage waited until the final five minutes to make his first and only substitution during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Leeds United – teenager Chem Campbell coming off the bench to make only his second senior league appearance – tells it’s own story. When Lage turned and looked at his dugout, he’d have been greeted a crop of unproven youngsters, rather than a selection of potential match-changers. More a creche than a bench, if you will.

WOLVES: BOTMAN TRANSFER IS NOT POSSIBLE

Lille defender Sven Botmanis no longer a target for Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers according to a report from The Athletic. It was stated that Dutchman Botman is not a transfer option for Wolves during this summer’s transfer window which opened officially on Friday.

Wolves were linked with a move for Botman during last summer’s transfer window. The Premier League club made a bid for the Lille centre back, but it was not enough for the immediate past French champions. Wolverhampton Wanderers made a £25m bid for Botman, but Lille were holding out for more money. The transfer fee demanded by the French club was £35m. WOLVES RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Wolverhampton Wanderers are back to winning ways following their 2-1 home win over Aston Villa in their Midlands Derby clash in the Premier League. Wolves came into the game on the back of a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Leeds United at home just before the recently concluded international break and they were able to bounce back from the defeat with a win over Villa. Wolverhampton Wanderers were cruising to a win over Leeds United after scoring two first half goals through Francisco Trincao and Jonny Castro only for them to fall apart in the second half after Mexican striker Raul Jimenez was given his marching orders for two yellow cards. Leeds went on to win the game by scoring three goals after the Jimenez red card through the likes of Jack Harrison, Rodrigo Moreno and Luke Ayling.

For the Villa game, Wolverhampton Wanderers also scored two goals in the first half and they would go on to secure victory as a result unlike the Leeds United game. Continue reading

WOLVES SUFFER SLENDER DEFEAT AGAINST ARSENAL

The English Premier League fixture between Wolverhampton Wanderers was quite the battle, with the two sides playing to their full capacity till the end of the match. Both teams had a lot of chances to score but failure to convert those chances meant that the match would not be producing a lot of goals.

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette missed one of the biggest chances of the match after he was found with a fine pass, but he could not convert it and it almost cost Arsenal as a result. However, after the match, the French striker took to social media to apologize to the Arsenal fans for failing to convert that chance, admitting that he should be scoring from such opportunities.

Although Lacazette was not able to score a goal of his own, he did setup Gabriel for the first and only goal of the match in the 25th minute. Wolves enjoyed more possession overall especially after Gabriel Martinelli was shown a second yellow card in the 69th minute of the game and was sent his marching orders. Since that time, Arsenal had a lot of job to do as they became more defensive and reduced their attacking threats as well. Their change in tactics did work out for them though as they were able to hang on to the 1-0 lead till the end of the match to secure themselves all three points.

The result saw Arsenal move ahead of Manchester United and into the top five places, displacing the Red Devils while also having one game in hand. It was the first time in nine games between the two sides that less than two goals will be scored in a match but the single goal of the game on Thursday night was enough to help Mikel Arteta and his Gunners side to seize all the three points they needed.

TRAORE BACKED FOR LIVERPOOL TRANSFER

Two former Premier League stars have backed the transfer rumours linking Wolves winger Adama Traore with a move to Liverpool ahead of the resumption of the transfer window in the next few weeks.

The Reds’ reported interest in the Wolves player was approved by the ex-Premier League duo of Jack Wilshere and Darren Bent while they were doing their punditry job. According to them, Spanish international Adama Traore will take his game to the next level if he leaves Wolverhampton Wanderers for Liverpool.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Bent said that Traore could be unstoppable in the Liverpool team where they play with high energy and press. On his part, ex-Arsenal midfielder Wilshere said the Wolves player would be unreal at Anfield.

Liverpool raided fellow Premier League team Wolverhampton Wanderers for Portugal international attacker Diogo Jota at the start of last season and they could return to the club to sign another attacking talent.

Apart from Liverpool, Adama Traore has been linked with Spanish team Barcelona. The 25-year-old started his footballing education at the famed La Masia Academy at Barcelona many years ago before Aston Villa prised him away from the Catalans. He went on to play for Middlesbrough before Wolves secured his transfer three years ago.

Wolverhampton Wanderers signed him from Middlesbrough for a fee believed to be around £18m in the summer of 2018 and he has been a regular in their team since then. The eight-cap Spanish player could be the man to plug the attacking gap for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp when his players leave for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in the next few weeks.

Liverpool are expected to be without three of their players due to the AFCON tournament and they are leading goalscorer Mohamed Salah of Egypt, Sadio Mane of Senegal and Guinean star Naby Keita.

The Midlands club started the season with three straight defeats but they have since picked up maximum points in three of their four games as far as Premier League football is concerned.

Bruno Lage replaced compatriot Nuno Espirito Santo as the Wolves manager in the summer and he didn’t pick up a single point in his first three Premier League games. The Portuguese tactician led Wolves to defeat against Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. Wolverhampton Wanderers didn’t score a single goal in those first three games.
At the fourth time of asking, Wolves were able to record a Premier League win thanks to the 2-0 win over hosts and newly promoted club Watford. Chilean defender Francisco Serralta (own goal) and South Korean international Hwang Hee-Chan were on target for Wolves against the Hornets.
Wolverhampton Wanderers then lost 2-0 at home to Brentford who finished the game with ten men after Grenadian midfielder Shandon Baptiste was sent off on 64 minutes after two yellow cards. Since the Brentford game in the league, Wolves have won two matches in the same competition. They have beaten Southampton (away) and Newcastle United (home).
Mexican striker Raul Jimenez scored for the first time this year as he gave Wolves a 1-0 win over the Saints. The ex-Benficaattacker missed the majority of this year due to a serious head injury. Jimenez provided the assist for both goals as Wolves secured their third league win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United. The aforementioned Hwang was the recipient of the two Wolves goal either side of the halftime break, while Republic of Ireland international star Jeff Hendrick scored the lone Newcastle United goal four minutes from the interval.
Wolves are up to 11th spot on the league table with nine points from seven matches.

TOTTENHAM INQUIRE ABOUT CHANCES OF SIGNING TRAORE FROM WOLVES

Tottenham Hotspur have already completed the signings of a few players this summer, but it looks like they are not even ready to stop yet. They have already signed a defender and a goalkeeper this season, both from Italian Serie A side Atalanta, but they are hungry to make more new signings that would help bolster the squad. Argentina international defender Cristian Romero and goalkeeper Gollini were both signed by Spurs this summer from the Italian outfit in what had been a defense-building transfer window so far. Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo has already told the club’s board of his intention to oversee a rebuild at the club and he has already started doing so.

They are now willing to follow up on those new signings and move to the attacking department as their next area of focus. The player they have sighted as one who interests them and catches their fancy is WOLVES winger Adama Traore. The Spain international winger has been one of the most important players for Wolves in the last couple of seasons and has cemented himself as a big attacking threat to Premier League defenders.

Traore’s physicality coupled with his blistering pace going forward are some of the great qualities that Santo admires. Spots manager Santo has now left the door wide open for a potential transfer of the player back to the Molineux.

Traore is a wanted man at Tottenham and depending on what happens between the two clubs, a deal could be struck that could see the player swap Wolves for Tottenham in the next few days. Signing Traore would make Spurs a stronger side to beat. Nuno Espirito Santo and Traore spent three years together at the Molineux Stadium and a reunion is already being planned.
